just got some new tires put on.... before, i could smoke the tires and spin the heck out of them for half the day. I have added somethings for a little power and now it seems when I accel. hard the tires still don't spin, they want to hop and bounce, tires don't keep contact with the pavement. I have to let off the gas and then slowly punch it to keep contact. whats a solution to my no traction problem? my friend wants to sell me some kinda 'traction bars' for $100 should i get em? thanks guys

I had the same prob. I got 255-50-16 kumho's and they liked 2 hop. I put on a 1LE swaybar set, and the bigger rear bar helped a little, but not much. Now that I just put in a HPP3, I punched it, and hippidy hop she went for about 50-75 feet. sooo embarassing. My solutions, BMR tubular SFC's to stiffen up the LCA mounting points, BMR chrome moly poly/rubber LCA's to keep flex to a minumum as well as reduce weight, and, of course, a BMR Adj. chrome moly PHR. I'm goind adjustable because I plan on running really wide rims and really wide tires. the PHR is more for cornering traction, but will help a little w/ drag racing. The poly/rubber combo lca's because the rubber won't bind like poly will, but the poly will be stiff enough to help w/ drag racing, so a good combo in my eyes. I plan on being able to hook much better w/ all that installed. I'll do all this in the next few weeks, all at the same time, so I'll post how it feels after i get it all installed.

It's all in the LCA bushings and it deals more with the age of the bushings than the power you are making.

This is what aftermarket lower control arms (LCAs) are for.

And torque arm, cuz people have used the stock lca's but gotten a aftermarket torque arm, and dead-hooked launches in LS1's

Agreed, the Lower Control arms keep the axle from bouncing around, they do a GREAT JOB of eliminating wheel hop.

The torque arm keeps the axle from "Rolling" toward the front or rear of the car.

Both conditions could make wheel hop. I just got some poly LCAs and the problem was wiped out.

Personally, I think chromoly is way overkill. Save the money and use it to buy go fast parts. Regular old steel LCA's will work.

However if your hung up on the lightweight LCA's..why not get those billet aluminum ones? those things are crazy light, and probly nearly the price youd pay for the chromoly ones.

              Just some thoughts.

oh yea, the poly/rubber LCA's form BMR Kick *** , they work very very well. highly recommend that you get that type of setup.

the chrome-moly ones are only 20 bucks more than the normal ones, plus they're on sale at Stealth Performance till the end of the month, 5-10 bucks off plus free shipping. it's over on www.LS1.com message board in the sponsor section. If ya noticed, in my sig, u see carbon fiber driveshaft, so yea, I am a "lightweight/efficiency" freak, cuz our cars don't put out the power of a V8, so we gotta use the Import way of thinking w/ weight reduction.

just to chime in another opinion. My car runs 15.08 on stock suspension except for a poly TA bushing and a Z28 rear sway bar with poly ends. When i 1st put in my posi i was hoppin the tires like hell. Im a very cost effective person. I decided to try shocks b/c they are desgined to dampen the movement, and in drag racing they are used to assist the springs in planting the transfered weight. I got the SLP takeoffs and since i put them on i have had no problems with wheelhop whatsoever. I would reccomend the takeoff shocks for anyone with a 93-97 car b/c the 98+ shocks are valved different for slightly more agressive performance manners but a great ride on the street. Shocks can go away as soon as 20K miles and u might not notice it anywhere but at the track. Its worth a try. Helped me.

Just as a followup - installed my LCAs and all hopping is gone. Traction went through the roof for me, now I need more power to try and lose it again.

Need a !Traction mod to counter my Traction mod :D
