  • Need Help w/ wheels & tires.

I just found a deal on a set of chrome zr1's. The front are 17x9.5's and the back are 17x11's and they have goodyear eagles(gs-c's 275 on front and 315 in back, I think), but I have two questions. 1st, Will I have a problem w/ fitting or scrubbing w/ the 17x11's and 2nd will my speedo be off? (right now I have 245/50 on the stock 16's? I would appreciate any help.

    By the way I have a 96 3.8 Maro w/ the Y87 Package.

the ZR1 offset(if off an original ZR1), will stick out of the wheel wells some. Some places sell them w/ different offsets 2 make them fill up the fenderwell instead of sticking out. I plan on getting torque thrust II rims w/ the same widths as the ZR1's, but they'll be either custom offset, or made to spec for F-bodies. I think ur speedo it a little off already, unless u have a formula or TA, because 245-50-16's are 1/2 inch smaller in diameter than 235-55-16's are. The 315-35-17's will be the same height as the 245-50-16's.

sorry, the wheels are zr1 replica's so they are not the zr1 offset, that's not a prob. I need to know if the tires will scrubb though.

if the ride height is stock, I doubt that they will, unless you're taking corners very hard and very fast.

woah! ok, how wide are the Torque Thrust's in the rear? 9.5 wide, or 11 wide? also, what are the EXACT specs of the rear tires?

One quick way to tell is to check the backside of the wheel. There should be a stamping that shows the offset. If your rear 17x11's are 50mm you should be ok. You may need to adjust the bump stops and hammer in a few places on the fender well. Might need an adjustable pan hard rod if the rear is not centered just the way you want it.

The fronts 17x9.5 should be 56mm. These two offsets are known as the "grand sport offsetts". The true ZR1 offsets are 36mm I belive. This is like 7 and some odd inches of back spacing. This makes your wheels stick out a bit but you do not have to mess with anything else typically. You may have to roll fender lips with the 36mm since your fender can come down on the tire this way you don't cut your tire.

Check out the following link. This fellow used the real 36mm ZR1 rims. He has the weighs, part #'s, pics, and everything you probably need to know.
