In my opinion the extra width will help with traction and I cant think of any downsides except that your car will stick to the road more, im not sure how much with 255's, and also your speedometer will be off because of the 50 series tire replacing the 60. Hope this helps.1996 Camaro 3.8L A4
*RK Sport Headers, RT High Flow Cat, B&B Tri-Flo Catback w/Quad Tips
*17\" Camaro SS Rims w/Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP (275/40/17 Front, 285/40/17 Rear)
*SLP Speedometer Recalibrator
*American Sports Car SS Style Hood, Painted Green Disc Calipers and Drum Shells
*Charcoal Leather Interior

"your speedometer will be off because of the 50 series tire replacing the 60"
Not enough to worry about. 60% of 215 is 129mm tire height. 50% of 255 is 127.5mm tire height. so it's about a 1% difference.2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs
