  • Rotor Replacement

Warped pretty good. Lots of steering wheel shimmy. Replace fronts only? Front/rear? Going w/ the Powerslots on ThunderRacing.com. Any info/advice is appreciated.

When my rotors warped originally I replaced the fronts rotors only and checked the rears. This worked out just fine for me until the napa pads I bought wore out after around 30,000 miles. At that point I checked my rears and had all 4 rotors turned and replaced all the pads. Long story short as long as you've got plenty of rear pad left you shouldn't have any problems just changing your front rotors.

I'd try replacing the fronts only.
Mine were real bad up front and the steering wheel shook violently. I went to Autozone and picked up 2 brand new front rotors (only $38.99 each  ). Put them on last night and just going through the chore of breaking them in slowly. I haven't done any hard stops yet, but it seems to have fixed my problem (so far). Pads were all good on the front so I just cleaned them with some brake cleaner.

I don't exactly know how much I can trust "AIMCO". That's the brand that autozone.com lists them as. Never heard of them myself. But let me know how they work out after you break them in.

Aimco rotors are terrible... I would go into it but my arm is hurt badly and I can only type with one hand, but don't get them.

If there's an advance auto around you, go there. They have a similar "economy" rotor that is much better than stock (I have them up front now) called Wearever. Or you can pay a little more money and get their Bendix rotors, which are very nice. Of course Bendix is like Raybestos, they were one of the first brake companies EVER.
