  • HELP PLEASE

Actually this happened to my best friend. She got her brakes replaced at a shop then she went to see her parents and doing 80 MPH on highway, then she got back driving about 30 MPH in local. all the sudden the front wheels were locked (just like you step on the brake really hard) seatbelt prevented her head to be smashed into the windsheild. she could've died on the highway if the wheels were locked.

She has to get her car towed to the shop, people there saying ok they will take a look at it.
She got a call saying the they have to order a part for her something called brake caliper housing bridge... it will take 4 or 5 days.
SHe has to pay for it. and they have no way of predicting it when they replaced her brakes/pads.

I don't know too much about brakes, but from what i heard, they are just trying to get away with it rip her off again. cos she doesn't konw anything... poor girl.

i'd like to know what you think about it...
P.S. she has to pay to get a rental car for 4 days...

To determine what happened you really need to know more about the situation. Brakes should not intentionally lock, neither should wheel assemblies, unless a bearing siezes or something gets caught in the wheels.

The pads float and are by default pulled back when the pedal comes back. I don't see how, hydraulically speaking, they would suddenly activate for no reason. Are we talking front or rear brake complete lockup? I'm assuming front.

Also it doesn't appear ABS is working right on the vehicle.

I've never seen a problem like this before, do you have any information about this since you posted? It does sound like she is being ripped off though, especially on the rental car!
