I don't doubt that the replicas are heavier but it is more of an appearance mod and I can't afford the $550 a piece or more from GM so I'll have to stick to the replicas.

If anyone is having concernes with replica wheels I have had mine for a year now with no problems. I even suffered a blowout at 80, tore up my rear bumper but rims stayed intact quite nicely. Of course these are ZR1 replicas, and only 16 inch. Tire prices were just too much for me on the bigger rims.

afs isnt making the 16 zr-1 replicas anymore. the 17 zr-1's they make are ~20lbs. that's pretty good.

i do still like the c5 rims though. if they were only 22 lbs i would do it. 24 lbs is just too heavy for a 'lightweight' rim. they 'tech' said they weigh 25.6 lbs in the box. ummm... i wasnt going to run boxes -- just tires.

18" corvette wheels with 275/35 fit nice, even on my lowered car...speedo wasn't thrown off b/c if you measure the TIRE diamter, it's the same as a stock tire, so it won't affect speedo...i have them, never had a problem and trust me, kumho is one of the best tires out, even though they're inexpensive...good traction and don't wear as fast as others...never had problems with mine...
oh, and check out www.discounttiredirect.com for tires...

I ordered the rims today and he said that the +65mm offset was too much on a firebird. he said it would rub constantly so he ordered me the same wheel with a +54mm offset and he said the will do fine. Also the +65mm centercaps had the corvette logo in black and red so it was highly visible but the ones I'm getting have the corvette emblem engraved in chrome so it is less visible. I think this will be better that way I'm not trying to rip a corvette off or anything.
