Aftermarket rims. Yes the stockers are 16". The Y87 came with wider tires, that is the only difference in tires compared to stock.
what would you recommend for a new set of 17 in. rims and wheels? how about the cost? and honestly, is there a difference in performance at all?

Really the choice is up to you as far as rims. There's literally thousands of options, just shop around till you find what you like. The price is going to vary from chrome, polished, silver w/clearcoat, painted there are a lot of options here too. Performance is a toss up in my opinion. With the 17's you can go lower profile which means you will have better handling but you trade that for weight. When you step up to 17's you add more rotating mass to your car.
I think that with the right rim and tire combo you can make your car really stand out from the others. It is one of, if not the, biggest cosmetic modification you can make.
