  • New wheels suggestions?

Hey guys, I am hoping to get wheels soon to replace my ahem... "wheel covers". I want to hear your suggestions.

I am looking to get 17x9 and my price range is ~$700 for all 4. I dont really care about chrome, painted is fine. Right now the one that I have been looking at are SLP's "17x9 Painted, 10-Spoke Camaro SS Takeoffs" What exactly does "takeoffs" mean, I am assuming are used right?

    http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...&SHOWEMAIL=Off

Also some tires suggestions for "all weather" are also welcomed since I will need to get all 4 new tires since I have 16" right now.

"Takeoffs" means they're supposed to look like the Camaro SS wheels, but they aren't the "real deal".

Oh yeah, I'd get the chrome.

How much $$ did they set you back? I guess chrome would be nice but I dont know if the extra $$ money would really be worth it.

Take-off parts are the real deal. They've been 'taken-off' car that go directly to SLP for upgrades then are sold cheaper because they are used (very slighty, only destination mileage).

these are reproduction wheels, not the real deal, but still very nice. A little more than you wanted to spend though.

Can you get them in 17x9?

Nevermind I just looked, 17x8 is as wide as it gets... drat.

i'd get the 10 spokes if i were you. i've seen them on a bunch of z28's and v6's and they look reall good. you could also check this site for wheels. http://aaarims.com they have 17x9.5 silver reproduction zr1 wheels for $695. i got my wheels from them and they are a very good company. they're a sponsor at camaroz28.com and give discounts to members on their board.

I've always thought take-off parts we're reproductions of the real thing? Well, I stand corrected. Sorry.

I like the Z06 replicas I have. Pics are in the sig. They are 18's but they come in 17x9.5 for $210 each. They offer free shipping and the wheels are awesome. They have polished aluminum and chrome for just a bit more. I could not be more happy with the Bridgestone Potenza S03's I have right now. They were spendy and cost almost a grand. Just my thoughts.

I wrapped them in 245/35/17 Yokohama A520's, all in all it set me back 2600 CND, which is just over 1800 us but you can find cheaper tires, the yokohamas are expensive. here is what you can do ....buy my rims for 197 each, which is $788.00 and then get Falken FK451's which are 153.00 us each. You can get this whole wheel and tire deal for $1404.00 US, thats a good deal. ;)

                            I'm gonna get 17x9.5/275-40 and 17x11/315-35 rims/tires sets for $2000. the rims are polished 2-piece Torque Thrust II's. Tires will probably be yoko's. if u don't wanna spend that much, go w/ replica 17x9.5 or 18x9.5 vette rims(ZO6 or Y2K) w/ 275-40-17, 285-40-17, 275-35-18, or 285-35-18 tires.

Takeoffs are reproductions? Reproductions of what?

My understanding is that takeoffs are stock wheels taken off a car for replacement by aftermarket wheels.

I got a set of 16X8 alloy takeoffs from SLP so that I could change tires winter/summer. They are identical to the stock 16X8 painted alloys on my convert. They came with the GSCs and were obviously taken off after only a few miles, when the new car was sent to SLP for conversion.

"SLP's "17x9 Painted, 10-Spoke Camaro SS Takeoffs" would, I assume, be the stock wheels supplied by GM on a Camaro SS.
