I am running the 1LE sways from SLP, and I have done a lot of hard cornering in my car. The only time I can remeber any oversteer was once, and I had the brakes almost floored and all the cars weight was foreward. I wanted the car to oversteer so I bought these swaybars, but when I'm not on the gas or the brakes the car is very very prone to understeer. What is going on?

"460.9 lbs - LS1 (5.7L) Manual with oil and flywheel
428.8 lbs - L36 (3.8L) Manual with oil and flywheel
Thats only a difference of 32.1lbs up front, so why would GM go with the weaker springs on the 6? I have yet to figure this one out."
I can think of two reasons: to get a softer ride (since most of the V6 market wants that) and because more of the weight is on the rear wheels (because of the extreme engine setback).
"I think you've run the 1LE's bob, where did you find the problem with oversteer"
It was most noticeable in two situations: accelerating hard off the apex of a first gear corner I often had to back off to avoid losing the rear, and braking into a corner; I had to get all my braking done before turning in. It was so twitchy I didn't try pressing the car in wet weather.
"expect an a$$load of oversteer during regular driving unless you routinely stagger pressures front to back. Front higher (street for me is 35/31 or so, and autocross is 38/28 or 40/28)..."
Yeah, that will help. By pushing up the fronts you're increasing effective front spring rate and lessening front traction a bit. I used to play that game when I raced Showroom Stock and there were few legal ways to adjust the handling. But I think you'd go faster on the track with less rear bar and softer front tire pressures.
"When i was talking to sam.. he acctualy thought that it was a good thing for the v6's.. as long as you have a corrisponding spring/shock combo.."
I wouldn't argue with that. My point is that, on soft stock V6 front springs, the big rear bar is not the hot setup. I believe that Sam runs a 21mm rear on his ESP car on some tracks, but with 500 lb/in front springs.2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs

I'm confused.
You guys keep saying "1LE" bars.
What size are you talking about when you say 1LE?
Are these bars hollow?
I have a 2002 Camaro V6/M5 w/Eibach Pro-springs and 255x17 khumos.
I drive hard every day, and run an occasional autocross.
I got a 19mm rear bar off a 2002 WS6-T/A.
What would be a good front bar to use w/ this set up?2002 CAMARO \"RS\"<br /> 3800/M5/Y87

Ya know , I got caught up in this sway bar stuff. I just decided to upgrade my shocks... The difference is dramatic. I would recommend to upgrade your shocks first. When finances permit I will be putting a larger front bar in. Not to big. little changes in bar size result in BIG handling differences.02 Camaro pewter six.Completely stripped. Not one option.

On the basis of this post I nominate Sunset Six for an immediate change from rookie to veteran status. :D2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs

awww. no one answered my question. why does my car understeer with the 1LE sway bars? It is twichy underbreaking, but otherwise the understeer is insane.Turbocharged and intercooled.<br />17psi(oops), stock fuel pump, no FMU<br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/phoenix64\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/phoenix64</a> <br />Video: <a href=\"ftp://ftp.pfabrication.com\" target=\"_blank\">ftp://ftp.pfabrication.com</a> Assorted car ****: TurboCamaroFull.

You're entering the corner too fast. I dont care what swaybars you put on a car, if you enter it too quickly in an Fbody you'll understeer.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

You also cant forget that the original 1LE cars also came with double adjustable Koni's. Using those shocks can help with the over steer problem quite a bit aswell. I do however agree with v6bob on this as, one of my co-workers is an SCCA instructor here in houston. He STRONGLY urged me to do only the front bar (1le) and get a stocker z28/transam bar for the rear.2002 Maple Red Firebird V6<br />3.73 w/ LSD | Pro-5.0 Shifter | Fan Switch | Tach w/ Shiftlite | Boost and Fuel Pressure Gauge | Bilstein Shocks & 1LE Springs | 1LE 32mm Bar & Poly Bushings, Poly Tranny Mount and Torque Arm Bushing | BMR LCA\'s | Catco 3\" Cat w/ Edlebrock 5509 Muffler, (all 3\") | Corbeau A4 Seats (Pair) |<p><a href=\"http://forums.fakeleg.com/\" target=\"_blank\">http://forums.fakeleg.com</a><br /><a href=\"http://cv6.fakeleg.com/\" target=\"_blank\">http://cv6.fakeleg.com</a> - Part & Repair Manuals and write-ups.

Iam going to going in on the group purchase on the lvl 1 slp suspension. I was thinking of the 19 or 21, but both seem to have their pros and cons, but since I have to drive my car this winter, I think I will be going with the 19.1999 Pontiac Trans Am M6 Far from stock.....
