3000Gt Suspension

has anyone ever driven a 96+ 3000GT?
there is something on them where you can press a button where it changes the suspension to "sport or touring suspension" i think.

anyone know what this involves? I drove one and it seems a lot more stable than my Camaro on turns, etc. Is it gas shocks or something like that? and how can I make my Camaro handle similarly since the 3000gt is a heavier car than my Camaro, but yet feels more stable in turns and manuvers.

Most likely like an active dampening system
Stiffens the shocks with a push of the button.

you can get a setup w/ certain shocks that allow u 2 tune ride quality from the cabin. I've also heard of a setup where somebody was able to make a custom system to adjust his koni's from the cabin

I'll do some research on this, I wonder if it works a lot like the 50th anniversary magnetic ride control on corvettes? Top notch adjustable systems utilize a central pneumatic system controlled by a piston which can be adjusted under the hood or in the cabin. You can adjust the firmness of the shocks with the compression of the gas in all 4 shocks through moving the piston in/out.

The only issue with adjustability like this is it doesn't change the curve of the rebound/compression of each shock, it just stiffens or loosens both linearly. The true hipo shocks are ones like Koni DAs that allow you to individually control compression and rebound - theyre quite ingenious [img]smile.gif[/img]

A good set of properly valved shocks for your car will make it drive better and outhandle that 3000GT btw... but stock for stock I know what you mean.

my buddy's C5 goes from like 'Normal to Sport to Performance' on its little selector knob right next to the trac-control...you'd prolly have an easier time getting parts FROM a GM to work ON a GM than from a ****subishi.

there are alot of cars with this type of feature, the newer vettes, thunderbird super coupes.. some caddys.. there are also alot of different ways to do it..

I think RK sports sells a kit so you can do this to your camaro.. i think its a kyb kit..

My friends mom has a C4 that has that. There's a knob on the console that says sport, touring, and performance i think. I believe it's called the 207 suspension package, and it's essentially the precursor to the new magnetic system. Very cool feature; I wish we could get something like that.

fast bump, slow bump, fast rebound, slow rebound

That's cool (and no doubt wildly expensive).

Something like FX5 or F37 on the C4.
Similar thing on the C5s, but I think it uses MR fluid.
RKSport is air-operated, 5-position, one-way crap. Get them if you like air leaks, as I hear.
Quad Penske's, yeah, bling, I've got $2,000 for each shock.
Oh you'll definitely see me changing in-car during my 60 sec autocross runs? Or those 15 second 1/4 blasts? Umm ... set once and forget it, screw in car.

My coming setup (should be delivered this week): Front HALs, Rear CE-2700's, 1LE springs all around, rear passenger bag.
