Nitto is just a brand...like Mickey Thompsons or Bridgestone. Slicks will help a really fast car...I would recommend some drag slicks. My favorite combo that I have seen is the ones camaro_zach has on his car.

Nittos are a brand of drag radial. Drag radials are DOT approved tires that are stickier (and usually less grooves) then a standard street tire. They run about $130 each.
Drag slicks are not DOT legal and have no grooves. They hook very hard but are also VERY HARD on the drivetrain.
Nittos should be fine unless you're running on a crappily prepped track or running a large amount of power. I used Nittos, but with the extra power I'm running now, I'm moving up to ET Streets (still DOT legal, a lot less tread and stickier then Nittos), but not till I upgrade my driveshaft and such b/c of the extra strain it puts on the car.
