• Clunking noise=Rubbing???

Hey guys.... i got my 18" C5 rims in last week...and i'm not sure if it's cause of the rims, or it might just be a coincidence, but when i go over bumps or take a sharp turn...i kind of hear a knocking sound coming from my rear left tire...i'm running 18's all around, with 275/40's in the back and 245/45's in the front .... everything else rides fine, but that clunking/knocking kinda scares me.... I took the car to a mechanic and he told me to put my old rims back on and see if the noise is still there.....but these wheels were made for our cars, and so many people have never had any problems with them....plus i wouldn't return them, or go back to 16's...
I put the wheels on myself, and i'm positive that i tightened every bolt...but i'm kinda doubting myself now that that's what it may be.....but the rim looks very snug on there, and all bolts seem tightened...

what do u guys think is might be?

thanks

p.s. i'll be posting pix soon

i don't think it's rubbing...the guy says that there's enough clearance...plus i wouldn't think that the rubbing would make such a sharp knock, it almost sounds like something's loose down there....the guy i took it to was more concerned about the offset more than anything....but no one else has had any problems with these in the past.

thanks

I have 17x9.5 wheels on 275/40R17s. I hear a clunk that comes from the rear passenger side of my car, but that happens with my winter, 215/60R16 wheels as well. Never gave me any problems whatsoever.

hmm.....so ur saying that because i have 18's is probably why it is clunking? Well there's no way i'm getting rid of these rims, cause i love them .....any ideas of what i should do....i'm thinking of taking my car to GM and have them check it out while i have my tune up done....

thanks for ur input

K boys, i made a sharp tunr from the other side now, and the clunking/knocking noise came from the side too...I am now convinced that the size of the new rims are the cause of this noise.... now i'm trying to figure out why is it doing that? is it rubbing? I don't really know what rubbing sounds like..

thanks
