Anyone running powerslot rotors up front on their cars? I like the looks and price of them and they seem to offer some great benefits to braking....just want to hear from someone who is using them and their thoughts. thanks

I run stock pads and power slot rotors in front.
I got mine from tbyrne motorsports, one of our sponsors.
Does it stop quicker, I dunno.
Does it look puuuurty, yup :D
My stock rotors were warped.Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

Sorry, no - but they do look good. In other words buy them for the look, not any performance increase.Robert - owner www.FirebirdV6.com/CamaroV6.com

do you have any evidence on this? what's wrong with these rotors? I find it hard to believe that these aren't any better than the stock rotors.2000 Z28 M-6
Loudmouth, TSP Lid, MAF Ends
330 rwhp

Most aftermarket rotors are better than ours... our stock ones warp way to much, in my opinion anyway.. my car has 60,000 miles, original pads, rotors have been turned 3 times... :rolleyes:99 3800 NBM Camaro - (Xcessive Xcelleration Racing Team)
Ram/Cold Air Induction (custom)
Modified 4l60e Valve Body
Z28 Catback
SS Hood
Modified 99 GM 3800II
JB Performance Engineering
jfbperformance@cox.net

Any slotted or cross-drilled rotor does nothing for a street car, except for looks. Slotted rotors are designed to remove pad material to keep them fresh on a RACE car. Cross-drilled rotors were designed to eliminate pad out-gassing which pads DON'T do any more. If you want a good aftermarket rotor get a blank to maximize surface contact, and either get Baer or KVR.

I would have to agree with Robert on that one 100%. I did think of getting the eratispeed (sp?) rotors for weight saving purposes.
However, I learned on this website you only save 1-2lbs. Sucks! heh heh. (they advertise 12-22lbs)Thanks,
JAM
02 Firebird GT

Soooo.... are we all saying slotted/cross drilled rotors do nothing for ANY modern day car? My friend put them on his 96 Dodge Avenger up front and I will vouche for him that it made a HUGE difference. I drove it... I know. and his stock rotors weren't even warped. at the very least, it's going to help with wet-weather braking and still look great.

If you read the RR and autocross boards they use blanks - why? because you want as much surface contact as possible. That's why people get larger brakes. Cross-drilling is worthless, help in the wet, no. Slotted - eats pads. The performance of a brake is dependent on the friction between the rotor and pad. You want SURFACE AREA not holes and slots that reduce it!Robert - owner www.FirebirdV6.com/CamaroV6.com

Racecar realistically this is correct, and even on a street car they definetly are not needed. They look good, but don't help performance much. The thing with them is they normally don't harm it a whole lot either - unless they lead to brake cracking. You cannot go wrong with a solid disc however, it will dissipate the most heat and work better than a slotted/drilled rotor for 98% of all applications out there.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro
