• Totally Confused on Suspension Now

Okay, I've been reading and I'm lost on a few things. First is it safe to put 1LE sway bars with poly endlinks and bushings on my car with stock springs and shocks? Secondly if I do this will I comprimise my car's suspension and handling?

Now then, I also have BMR Tubular LCA's and Panhard bar (poly bushings). Am I looking at any major problems here with this setup? As of now I don't plan on lowering my car, but am looking into better shocks. I do plan on getting BMR 2 point SFC's in the near future.

I'm not looking to make my car into a race car or anything, my goal is to just have a nice balance of performance and handling without breaking my wallet.

Please read this thread:

Let me know if you have specific questions. If you don't understand swaybars, you can definitely compromise your handling. As Global West says (in red letters) "Compatibility is a key issue because of so many aftermarket companies offering suspension components. It is easy to purchase non-compatible components and end up with unacceptable results."

I believe it is easier to do this with sway bars than anything else.

V6Bob,
I understand swaybars and what their purpose is and how they adversly affect handling. I read that thread before posting this one and saw that there were many references to autocross racers, which I'm not one nor will I be. So my car will not be seeing that type of a track. The only track I'll take my car to would be a dragstrip.

I guess where I'm lost is in the normal day to day driving aspects, i.e. going to work, picking up groceries, ect. So if I go ahead and have all my parts installed and I start to experience problems will aftermarket shocks and springs fix the issues you addressed in the other thread?

You are fine running 1LE sways with poly bushings and endlinks. If it works for you, let it be - I'm currently running the same only I'm using the 1LE bushings (but poly endlinks).

The BMR LCAs with poly bushings might show some bind under hard cornering - which is not good. But for just general street use and drag racing use you're probably okay using them. If you like what they did for your suspension I see no reason to let them go. Just don't think they're going to help your cornering ability any

Thanks Dominic that's what I was looking for. And I know that my LCA's won't help cornering, I got them to help with wheel hop. With 3.08's and an open rearend I seem to spin the tires quite a bit. Hopefully I'll have everything on before long. Again thanks Dominic & V6Bob.

Then why pay to get the 21mm rear? What's the benefit?

Better shocks would be a higher priority for me, they'll help your ordinary driving and wheel hop.

Hey V6Bob, if the 21mm rear bar is a big mistake then why do so many people including Dominic have them? Maybe they all autocross, I don't know. Also for upgrading the shocks, would the Z28 de carbon shocks work well and last for a long time?

I think people buy them because of marketing hype and the magic "1LE". That's why I bought them :( . I blame myself, because I didn't research it enough. Autocross or street doesn't make a difference.

I have no personal experience and not much expertise on shocks, others can give better advice.

Thw Z28 deCarbons are the same that come on 98+ Fbodies including my own. I can say they last for a good 20,000 before starting to show wear and are probably fully worn out in 40,000-50,000 miles of normal street driving. Theyre good to get if you want to get that new ride feeling back, for $50/4 they're very hard to beat

I like the 93 1LE 32/21 serup personally, I think it makes the car handle more like it should. Some people don't like the stiff rear, others do, its personal preference for your driving situation really. Just because I do something doesn't mean its right either, it just means I happen to think its right for me .

If you're looking for more shock advice make a new post concerning your issue and I'll answer it there - it will help searchers on this board.
