yeah.. they probably do suck..
i have gone though a set of bridgestone potenza re730's I LOVE THEM!! great all around tire IMHO..
I am currently eagerly wating on a set of the new yokohoma es100's they are a little cheeper then the re730's and i have heard good reviews on them..
there are alot of people who like the kum-hoez street tires (711 and 712) on this board.. and they are ok tires.. but from what i understand they dont last for S**T..
and for the record the oem goodyears blow..
the new f1-gs d3 tires look pretty cool though..
that all the info i got on street tires..

Well, the tires are probably crappy (they are narrow too), but new tires are always slick. It takes a little while to break them in and wear the slight coating off of them. The Kumhos I had put on my Camaro would spin like nuts after I got them at first, but they broke in and started to grip better.

on the drivers door panel, it says that 215/60/16s are the stock size, but it doesn't mean you have to put them on :D
z28s come with 245/60/16s and newer v6s come with 235/?/16s I think.
I had 215/60/16s when I first bought my car. It looked alright, but moving on up to some Kumho 711's at 245/50/16 made a huge difference on my launches and how aggressive the car looks
if you're worried about tire size/diameter, etc. check out tirerack.com and you can get all the stats about it from there.

If you have hubcaps then your stock size is probably 215, but with real wheels your stock size should be 235/55/16
I would agree that you should wait for the tires to wear. Your handling should also be kinda bad for awhile because the rubber tread blocks act like rubber bands whenever you take a corner.

Actually only the Y87 comes with the 235/55/16 on the v6. However this is also the stock size of the Z. The stock tire size for a 6 is 215/60/16. The optional tire size for the Z was 245/50/16 and will fit fine on our car. I highly recommend BF Goodrich which are not only great performance wise, but they also give the car a more aggressive look.2000 red camaro Y87<br />Whisper air lid<br />K&N Air Filter<br />SLP Cold Air Induction<br />Flowmaster 80 series with Dynomax Pipe <br />loctronics chip ignition system<br />2 Hyperpro 12s in a custom box<br />BF Goodrich G-Force 245/50/16<br /><a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/redcmaro\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/redcmaro</a>

Umm no. If you got alloy wheels from the factory you got 235/55/r16. Hub caps got the 215/60/r16.
I have a 3.4 so there is no way I can have the Y87 package, and the window sticker says optional 16x8 alloy wheels and goodyear eagle GA 235/55/r16 tires.\'95 Med. I have Bridgestone Pontenza S03's. There are the best tires I have ever owned. I can only lay rubber if they are cold...and I mean like I've gone less than 100ft. I have yet to get them to let out in a corner...like 95mph around a 40 Sbend and nothing.<a href=\"http://www.onid.orst.edu/~waltejam/\" target=\"_blank\">98 Bright Red Camaro</a><br />Too many mods to list....check my website

You have salad shooters that couldn't have orignally come with the car, so your original tire size would be different than most '99 Camaros.<a href=\"http://webpages.charter.net/camarov6/Car%20Pics/New/IMG_0085.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Black 2002 Camaro M5</a>-SS takeoff muffler, B&M Ripper, K&N Filter, 35/20% tint, Infinity speakers, Viper alarm, perpetually breaking clutch return spring mod. 15.49@90.15<br /><a href=\"http://webpages.charter.net/camarov6/Car%20Pics/P14.JPG\" target=\"_blank\">Pewter 2002 Firebird M5 (Dad\'s Car)</a>

ok, 215-60-16's came stock on V6's. others came w/ the performance tire option, 235-55-16's. I had the 235-55's and they were horrible. V8's come w/ 245-50-16 tires stock, and most can burn those up easy, but that's w/ a V8. I got 255-50-16's, which are the stock height as the 215-60 and 235-55 tires, and they worked good, except that after a year of cornering at 40, punching it off the line, and 18,000 miles, 2 of them are gone to the tead bar, and the other 2 are coming close to it. believe me, LSD and rear suspension mods will improve tire life and wear a lot if u drive like I do, if u don't, u'll be fine.2001 Arctic White Firebird<br />More mods than I\'m allowed to list!

I have the stock 16x8 wheels on mine with 245/50ZR16 Cooper cobra ZHP tires on and they are about done for and hook up great and seem to last quite a while. I would go with the 245 size like on the Z. And this is why I dislike tire stores. For some weird reason they seem to like selling V6 Fbodies and Mustangs the crappiest tires on the planet to replace the already ultracrappy Goodyears.
You bought a tire for a Buick, not a sportscar. Characteristics of tires like this are the following:
They last about 50,000+ miles
They are low-medium priced
They don't come in sizes wider than P225
They are T Speed Rated or less
They have squiggel tread pattern similar to what was found on cars in the 40s
They are very soft sidewall and corner poorly, but ride smooth
As an example:
The tire store I went to thought I should get this:
http://www.yokohamatire.com/TireIntro.asp?TireID=5
I got this:
http://www.yokohamatire.com/TireIntro.asp?TireID=9
There are huge differences in tire types, and I for one prefer a performance tire on any vehicle I drive on the street. Some people really do love crappy tires, they think all tires are the same and just want a good deal.
If there's one thing everyone should do, its learn tire types, learn why theyre the way they are, study the good tread patterns and bad ones, and be able to reckognize tires from a distance by their tread pattern alone .
I guess Im sick but when I step out of my car and look at other cars, I always look at what kind of tire each car is running 2002 5-spd NBM Camaro
