I was just wondering when should i replace my tires, can i replace my backs only or do i have to do all four???? there doesnt seem to be too much slipping but the tread seems low. Is there a certain height to not go passed, or a height to judge when to replace em??? Thanks

I cut-n-copied this from a website:
Here's an old reliable trick you can use to check the tread depth of your tires. Be sure to inspect your tire at various points. Irregular tread wear may not be readily visible.
1. Take a penny and pinch Abe's body between your thumb and forefinger.
2. Put his head into one of the grooves of the tread at the point on your tire where tread is lowest.
3. If any part of his head is obscured by the tread, you're driving with the legal amount of tread. If you can see all of his head, you're ready for a new tire.sigpic

If you want an absolute measurement Sears, or any tire store for that matter, will check your tread for free and tell you using a simple tire gauge how much tread is left on each tire - inside/middle/outside.
2/32nds is the legal limit - its when your tread is even with the "wear bars" that are found on all modern tires.
If the tread height is even with these wearbars, you REALLY Need to replace those tires. I always replace mine here in rain country between 3/32 and 4/32 if possible, its just not worth the risk to drive on balding tires.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

I always replace tires in pairs, i.e., if I loose one front tire, I replace them both.Wife and a dog, they both think they\'re Kujo.

1999 3.8 A4 Y87
Navy Blue Metallic
BFG G-Force KDWS 275/40/17s,
WS6 Wheels (17x9)
Phoenix Transmissions 2400 Stall Converter
FRA, Holley Powershot filter, Whisper Lid, Ported Throttlebody
2000 manifolds, Flowmaster, WS6 Tail Pipes,
MSD 8.5mm Wires, MSD Coils, Autolite plugs
Performance Cryogenics treated rotors
1LE Sway Bars and panhard rod, 1LE front springs w/SLP Bilsteins, stock rear springs w/ 3rd Gen Bilsteins, BMR STB, KBDD SFCs, 1LE rear lower control arms, 1LE front lower control arms
1968 Chevelle Malibu 327 TH350

if you look, there is a little ridge in the middle of the treads in certain spots around the tire, look for them, and when the tread wears all the way down to them ridges, its time for new tiresBlack 1998 Pontiac Firebird A-4 swap
271.4rwhp/259.4rwtq NA
13.30@102.44
www.freewebs.com/wickedsix98
