• Time to lower car!

I'm going to change my shocks soon. I decided to change my springs at the same time.

But, I can't decide which springs to go with. My Camaro is street driven only (no auto-x).

Anyone with pictures, opinions, or personal experience please post.

for cost, eibach makes good springs. if ya want adjustablility, then get a coil-over kit. also, Koni shocks are great no matter which way u jump, coil-over or just lowering springs.

I'm trying to keep costs low. That means no Konis or coil overs :( .

For springs I'm leaning towards Eibach Pro Kit or H&R Sport.

For just a street car, the Bilstein HD/Eibach combo is about as nice as it gets. If its not enough have them revalved. I know I've said it before, but it works very well.

Dominic, Where can you order the shocks?

and...how much better are they than the take-off v8's that SLP sells?

He is talking about the revalved bilstines that sam strano sells..

I highly reccomend talking to him before you get into a suspension setup..

However, you will run into a problem with revalves and v6 springs, most palces wont give the spring rates for porgressive rate springs, so you have no way to know how to revalve it..

and with your budget i would not bother..

best option for you is to just get some springs, maybe some shocks.. and pray it works for yah..

Takeoff Shocks from SLP are identical to any stock v6 or v8 deCarbon Fbody shock. They are new, but they are identical to stock, and IMO are not good for lowering springs. Not to mention they wear out incredibly quickly.

The Bilsteins are guaranteed for life, are revalvable for any spring you want to run, and are probably the best shock for the dollar you can buy for our cars.

I also mentioned the Bilstein HDs instead of the revalves, as the Sam Strano revalves are more expensive and you really don't need to go that way if all you're doing is cruising around . If you're looking to win competitions, or you just want the best shock for the application, definetly have them revalved. The HDs are fine on stock spring rates though, and Eibachs aren't too far off to make it unsafe to run them.

btw, SLP Bilsteins are revalved HDs as well, only they're done to make them softer/weaker and ride more like factory... heavens knows why.

Quote from Sam in an email conversation...

"Revalves are better capable of handling heavier spring rates. However, V-6's Pro-kits are (rightly) softer than the Pro-kits for a V-8 car. The HD's are more capable of damping your proposed springs without a revalve. However, if you really want the best you can get, we'd still want to tweak them......."

"Pro-kits are $229 alone, or $209 when purchased with shocks. Bilstein HD's are $329/set. Revalves are $480/set. "

My "Proposed" set up was this:
"I plan on running in an AutoX event sooner or later. I also enjoy driving the hell out of it on the back country roads of Maryland."

shortdog...

Do you like your Sprint springs? Are you happy with the way they perform on the street?

It's not a bouncy ride, but you will feel every bump. Those sprint springs lowered the hell out of my car! Around 2" in front, 2.5" in rear. The car sits level now. If you want your car pretty low, sprint is the way to go.

How important is it to use LCA relocation brackets with a 1.5-2" drop? Will my tracktion suck w/o them?

If I get the relocation brackets, will I need adjustable LCA's?

Honestly call sam strano.. I would spend the extra $$ on coil overs and good shocks before I would mess with lca's and relocation brackets..

you also may want to look into a adjustable pan hard rod..

lca relocation brackets should do it. If u try to punch it off the line, w/o the relocation, the rear end will hop like crazy. u may need adjustable lca's too if it's lowered too much.
