ok, i need new tires, but this will still be an issue even if I got another set of 255-50-16 tires. my current level of mods just won't let me hook solidly off the line, and it's killin me. I have to ease into my launch, which doesn't let me take full use of my TC's abilities. My current mods for rear suspension and chassis are: BMR poly/rubber chrome-moly lca's, 21mm swaybar w/ poly bushings & endlinks, BMR rod-ended adj. phr, BMR phr relocation bar(mainly stiffens the rear chassis and phr mounting point), and BMR tubular SFC's. I have a set of weld-on BMR LCA relocation brackets, but they aren't on the car yet. From what BMR says, they will get me an extra .1 in the 1/4 if I have bad traction off the line. well, i'm sure they'll help, but I know I'll need more, cuz I spin bad. what can u guys suggest to me to get better traction? I might be able to get my hands on a set of ZO6 rims, but if I do, I'll only be able to go w/ a 275-40-18 tire in the rear because of financial restraints. will 275-40's get me the additional traction I'm looking for, or will I need more?

maybe a torque arm, try changing the pinion angles to get better traction.2000 FIREBIRD NBM
Thanks to:
TSP, ZZP, TCI, Comp Cam, Whisper, GM, Lakewood, TrafficJamz Car Audio,HP Tuner, Alterstart, texas drivetrain and performance, BMR

1990 BLUE CAMARO RS
1980 z28

venom-vi vice president

I don't have any off the line traction problems with stock suspension and sticky tires. I'm currently running on Firehawk wheels (17x9) with 275/40R17 Yokohama ES100's. Only mod I have that helps traction is my Torsen LSD. Of course I can break them loose by popping the clutch but they don't spin much at all if I launch it real good. With my stock wheels & tires I could keep em nice & smokey through all of 1st & part of 2nd.

DRs?
i can tell you that the low profile won't help you too much, which is why you would keep two of your old 16's and put some DRs on them. a torque arm would be nice, but it sounds like you have practically all the bolt-ons that you can possibly add- might just be time for DRs.
in other words, i feel like tires are your weak link.

Yeah, tires. You need plenty of sidewall, and tire width for better traction. And running lower air pressure in your tires of course.~Chris
1999 Hugger Orange Camaro
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836

†…faith…hope

I would prolly have bought myself a set of DR's or ET streets for my rear rims and a pair of skinnies for the front if I was totally drag racing inclined. problem is, I love being able to corner like a madman. balanced is better for my car, so untill I max out tire width(might end up being 335-35-18 someday, i dunno), i won't be using dr's unless it's a trip to the drag strip.
Torque arm will of course get me some more traction. anybody have any suggestions as to what brand and which model?
nobody has brought up throwing on my LCA relocation brackets. do u guys think that will help?
I run 28 psi in my rears, like I mentioned above, balanced ability.
will stepping up to 275 tires in the rear give me that much more traction? keep in mind that I run 3.42/lsd combo in my rear end and a 2.55 str 3000 rpm stall TC w/ basic bolt-on's.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!

you literaly JUST missed a BMR trakpak in the for sale section for $200... that might have helped out quite a bit.
28 PSI is SUPER high- the LCAs might be fooling you into thinking that you are launching solid but i remember trying that tire pressure and got terrible wheel hop.
start at 20 PSI and maybe take a pound or two out as the night goes on and your tires get warmer. i'm running 275s and i leave them at 19, some nights that's too much and others it's not enough.
i don't know how much your brackets are affecting you; did you put on adjustable LCAs or normal tubular ones?

Trust me, I know what wheel hop is. I had terrible wheel hop before i got my lca's. after I put them on, I had dead-hook launches for 2 days, before I put in my TC. I am not getting wheel hop, I am just burning out off the line badly. I have normal tubular lca's.
94teal, give me a website of where QA1 sells rear coil-overs for our cars. I think u may be mistaken, they sell front coil-overs, but the rears are just like the stock setup I think. if I'm wrong, show me a website w/ them so I can look at them.
when I put on my lca relocation brackets, i will set them up at the lowest setting, pointing the lca's toward the ground as much as possible to get max traction from them.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!

I've been seeing this in alot of magazines lately.
Autofab makes the coilover kit, it retails for around 559 and includes 2 shocks and coils and mouting brackets.
Has anyone heard anything about them or not?
