  • Tie Rod bent, and possibly the nuckle, is this bad

i bought my 97 rs convertible last november slightly wrecked in the front. I had it on the frame machine. They said it was pushed down slightly and shifted over slightly towards the driver side. Today, it's all back together, painted so I took it to a shop to have my new tires put on and have a front end alignment done, because that's all the frame shop said it needed in that area. Well, the shop said that the passenger side tie rod is bent, and the nuckle may be bent as well. They showed me where the tie rod is bent. It's gonna cost $250 for the new tie rod, my new tires mounted and balanced, and the alignment. They said if the nuckle is bent, that alone will be like another $250. Does this sound right? Wouldnt they know if it is bent for sure like they knew the tie rod was bent? Is that a bad thing if it's bent? Please give me some info about this? Thank you.

It's often hard to tell exactly what is loose/bent when trying to do the alignment. It is a sort of a plug and pray situation. The prices seem reasonable, good luck.
