  • Fbody experts: F-Body brother needs your help PLZ!

I need help guys. Let me explain the situation first.:

    I have a 1995 Camaro 3.4L v6.
It needs a new rearend. It has drum brakes in the rearend btw…

I got in touch with a guy who is gonna sell me the rearend from his 99Z28. (3.42 gears, LSD… exactly what I was looking for)

He’s selling the rearend because he’s gonna get a 12-bolt put it.

He said that he will be using his stock brake setup (rotors/calipers/e-brake cable)

Basically, I have a rearend with no brake system.

    NOW….

    Here’s where I’m confused:

Will the disc brakes from an LS1 car work on my V6?

I asked a the guy at the shop and he said that the actual rearend will work but NOT the brake system. He said that I will need to get the brakes from an LT1 based car. (rotors, calipers, and backing plate)

I then talked to another guy and he said that the brakes from the LS1 WILL work.

At this point, I’m really confused as to what I need to get. Please help me out and clear the confusion.

    What WILL I need?

    Thanks in advance guys…

The 98+ brakes are different from the earlier years. The ABS may not work. The rear would have to be one that has the single rear sensor attached to the ring gear. The e-brake will need to be modified.

      Hey
I am in the exact same boat as you! I am picking up a non traction control rear end out of a '99 t/a with 3.42's and a posi. It has no brakes. From what I heard I have to get the ls1 rotors, calipers, lines, and pads for the rear. I am still confused on it and would like to hear from someone who knows something about this. Have you heard anything else on this?

I am going to leave this in place for now - but in the future do not post the same topic in 2 forums and expect it to not be locked.

What problem is there with the ABS on a non-TCS rear end??
