  • Help w/ rough stops/ low track, abs inop lights

Recently my '95 camaro has all of a sudden started to come to quick jerky stops (even at very low speeds and when i first start up). I'll just be rolling to a stop and the car will jerk and the low track light comes on. I've had this car for 5 years and have never had this problem. The low track light has only come on in the past when i stop or start too quickly on slick surfaces. Now i can't take a drive without this happening at least once. Also sometimes when this quick "jerk" occurs the ABS light even comes on, though not as often as the low track light.

Any ideas of what the problem could be? It's just kind of annoying when the car stops like this and i'm hoping its nothing serious.

P.S. The belt (only 1 year old) has starting a squeaking noise recently (don't know if this has an effect or not)

well I'd check all the abs sensors.. that would be at the front rotors.. and at the back in the diff.. make sure everything is hooked up properly.. sounds like the abs system is kicking on when it isn't supposed to.. there is a TEMPORARY fix for the abs system kicking in when it isn't supposed to.. and that is to pull the ABS fuse(s).. not sure if there is more than one.. this will make the ABS light stay on but should keep those jerky stops from happening.. at the same time your abs will be disabled so BE CAREFUL.. if you can't figure it out take it to a good mechanic and get it checked out.. when it comes to brakes don't play around..

one quick note.. if you get in a wreck with the ABS disabled and the insurance finds out about it.. you may be on your own!... and if it's your fault and someone else gets hurt.. you could have more trouble than a $400 bill from a shop to worry about.. so do this at your own risk and once again BE CAREFUL..
