• Opinions on Tires??

Alright, well i am just about to order some 17" x 9.5" reproduction Z06 rims for my 98 Camaro. As of right now, i only believe that I can order them with 275 40 17 YOKOHAMA AKURET ULTRA HP or 285 40 ZR17 GOODYEAR/KELLY DEFENDER...

What I would like to know is what you guys think would look better on the car. That is filling in the wheel wells.

I also think that the Z-Rated Goodyears would have less life than the Yoko's. Do you think that's true. Let me know.

Thanks.

For Orlando FL in P275/40R17 here's my recommendations:

1. Avon M550 A/S if you need really good tire life and don't want to sacrifice grip for it
2. Yokohama ES100 if you don't care about tire life but want maximum dry traction for the price.
3. BFGoodrich KDW or Bridgestone S-02 if you want the most traction for the money

There are other tires out there, for example I hear the Pirelli Pzero nero M/S is a great tire, but for the money the Avon M550 that I run is just as good and costs significantly less, so I didn't recommend it.

Personally, I dislike all the goodyear tires other than the GS-D3, and for the money there are better options than the GS-D3, so it really isn't at a competitive price point.

DONT BUY THEM FROM EBAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
go to wheelreplicas.com and they make the Z06 rims I just bought them...for 17 inch rims high polished aluminum finish costed me 450 shipped for a set of 4...took 2 days for them to come in the mail. they offer the Z06,Z06 motorsport, and C5 rims in 17, and 18's, can get them in high polish, black, and chrome...costs bout 200 more for chrome...and I got Z rated summitomo tires from tirerack for 72 bucks each...they have an overall rating of excellent...so shop around a lil bit...I spent like 750.00 for rims, and wheels shipped. I think I just gave U the best hook up you will ever find on wheels and tires

Cool another o-town guy...

I have 275s on a 17X9.5 in rim.

I have considered going to 285s, because some companies offer them cheap, but 275s really fill out well on the rim.

Anyways keep an eye on the FL forum at the bottom of the main page, there are lots of us in Orlando area. We just all need to get together

I'll be at UCF car club meet(dont have to be a student to come) on wed nights...

Also check ebay... I forgot the name but one of the most popular f-body replica wheel companies is in Sarasota FL, might be worth it to schedule to pick them up depending where you are, to save on shippping. I think AFS wheel?

also as for tires I have heard good things about those Fuzion ones from FL, guy is cutting 1.8 60's with a ls1 locally with them and they are only 245s.

I have BF Goodrich Comp TA HR4

I paid 70 for them but they are only 68 now at

They are wearing well and are generally good overall tire. Just a little noisey. However a Great price!

For the money, I like these:
Daily Driver:
Hankook Ventus V4s
Good Price, Z Rated with a 420 treadwear, awesome. I am running them now.
Kumho 712s are still a good value.
The new Kumho SPTs are looking good.

For road racing applications, with a street tire, I would get the Falken Azenis RT615 or Azenis sports.

For drag, not daily driven, but still street driven, get the Mickey Et Street RADIALS.
For all out drag, very little street get the mickey et streets.
1997 Chevrolet Camaro v6 - 13.8@104MPH
1997 Dodge Viper GTS
