I have an 02 v6 camaro. A couple weeks ago i noticed that both of my rear wheels were making what I would call a "grinding noise" when i drove, no matter if i was coasting, accelerating or braking. It was a steady constant grinding noise that would increase as i went faster. It didnt sound like brakes to me cuz my car only has 30,000 on it. Well i took off the old pad, which still had plenty of life on em and put brand new pads on both wheels, but this did not change, diminish, or get rid of the grinding noise i heard. Only now after about 2 weeks of driving on them, the grinding noise is more sparatic, no longer constant. Im afraid my rotors are both warped but i dont know why they would both start grinding at the same time, during the middle of summer. Does anyone know what caused rotors to warp, how i can fix them, or have any other ideas what might be causing this problem. Thanks!

Well i took it to the dealership to begin with, but they didnt want to work on it w/o charging be cuz i had an LSD installed and i put new brake pads on it. Also i checked the fluid level in the differential and its fine, i changed it only 3000 miles ago. Im think im just going to take it in someplace to have them check it out_davjos81- 02 v6
www.cardomain.com/id/davjos81
http://community.webshots.com/user/davjos81

-over $8,000 invested! if it is still under warranty, take the LSD off and put the factory stuff back on. Take it to another dealorship or just take it where u brought it. Brake pads arent covered under the warranty that i know off. is it considered normal wear and tear? dealerships wont mess with your car if it has after market stuff on there, unless they really cool about it. if that dont work, just go of on them, u aint got nothin to lose.

rotor warpage is most allways associated with hard braking and improperly torqued wheels. when you put your wheels on make sure that you use a torque wrench, and torque them to 100 ftlbs. this will insure that you have each lug torqued the same as the rest. if some are tighter than others then the disk will be more prone to becomeing warped ;)-Aaron, AKA ATL2001
93 3.4L
www.ilfba.com

"I STRONGLY suggest getting a professional to find the problem ASAP!"
That's the most important thing.
"Grinding" is not usually a noise cause by warped disks. It is one often caused by bad rear end gears.
"Well i took off the old pad, which still had plenty of life on em and put brand new pads on both wheels, but this did not change, diminish, or get rid of the grinding noise i heard."
That's another indication it is not the brakes.
I'd suspect the LSD installation.
I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

I'm not convinced its the LSD for a couple reasons. One- While I've only had it installed since Febuary, it hasnt given me any problems at all, why would it just all of a sudden, and Two- the "grinding" noise I described is actually coming from the wheels. I am pretty sure its not warped rotors for the fact that nothing unusual happens when I brake, no pulsing in the pedal, it doesn't pull to either side, and it doesnt effect the noise coming from my wheels. Where I really think it my problem lies, is in my axle bearings or the axles themselves. I drive my car pretty hard, harder that I probably should (donuts, burning my tires, etc....), although I'm not sure it that would have anything more to do w/ it than the harsh winters up here in northern NY and all the stalt they put on the roads here. I'm not going to be able to put my car in the shop for a week or two bc im broke right now and uncle sam doesnt pay his soldiers quite as well as i'd like, lol. Well, if any one has thoughts and/or ideas let me know. Oh, and btw, i cant reinstall my old differential cuz i dont have it, so i dont think the dealership will cover it under warrenty._davjos81- 02 v6
www.cardomain.com/id/davjos81
http://community.webshots.com/user/davjos81

-over $8,000 invested!
