  • Bilstein HD vs KYB AGX

okay new shock time (for the first time) on my Camaro. I've read the posts, and although Koni's are the best, I can't bring myself to pay twice as much for something that will do the same thing. So Koni's are out...

The two big contenders on this board seem to be the Bilstein HD's and the KYB AGX. I have never ridden in a car (that I know of) with either of these so I don't know anything about either. I do a lot of street driving but do go the track as often as I can. I'm also going to give autcross a chance once I'm back from deployment. I do like a soft ride when going around town (and I don't street race much) but I like it firm at the track. For this reason, I'm currently leaning toward the KYB's. Is their a big difference between the softest firmest settings on those that I will notice a difference (or am I just being too hopeful). Also, whats the life expectancy on these and has anyone had problems?

Also, I have no intention on lowering this car but would like to know if there is a stock replacement spring that anyone recommends when changning my shocks (again I don't want the car lowered, I'm trying to keep the handling as good as possible!)

I've found KYB's for $334 and HD's for $370, if anyone knows of cheaper please let me know!

i think they found a place for bilsteins for only like 250 or something.

most people on here will tell you go to with the bilsteins over the KYB's. sam strano told me that the kyb's soft are just too soft, and the hard to just to hard. he suggested bilstein to me.

i got mine from this place http://www.bimmerparts.com/?cookieID=0ZF0RV2N2 for $292 shipped to my door. they are a very good company and will respond to e-mails real quick if you have any questions. the bilstein hd's feel pretty good. i'm lowered so i have a stiffer spring rate, but my car doesn't bounce at all. i think they would work pretty good w/ stock springs as well.
