im trying to plan my attack on my suspension. I want to go for a street/ auto X setup. also, most of the roads i travel suck, so i dont want to lower the car any more. from what i can gather im going to put in a bmr stb and subframes and hotchkiss rear end suspension kit. eventually new bmr upper and lower a arms as well. not sure what to do as far as shocks so as not to lower... guess my only option is 1LE's, is that correct? any comments?

If you want to do autocross the first step is getting the rules for your area. Most all places subframes dump you into a class with seriously modified cars.

that will get you in to street mod at any scca event..

      but!

do you want to autocross jsut for fun?? or for competition??

if you just are doing it for fun.. get all the crap you can and live it up.. but if you want to compete in a class you need to reconsider it..

I dunno.. dont mod your suspension yet.. take a AX class, go to a few events.. then start thinking about it..

you will learn alot more about a car without all the goodies.. upgrade when you cant go any faster

i dont ever plan on competing, i just want to have fun working on my car making it more enjoyable to own and drive. With the type of driving that i like to do, i figured auto-X would be the type of setup i would shoot for... more cornering ability than drag.
i just keep reading that you dont want tomix and match brands randomly and that you need to persue one type of setup or another, but cant get a breakdown on what components are good for which setup.
        any suggestions would be appreciated.

Honestly, I would start with a goooooood set of tires then springs, shocks, sways and bushings.. then move from there.. but thats just me..

tires and chassis mods will make a big difference. Z-rated tires will help u stick better for cornering, braking, and accelerating. making the chassis more stiff will help the suspension work against it better. an stb and sfc's are logical first mods to do to the chassis because of their cost and ability to make a huge difference on handling. after that, only a roll cage will stiffen it even more, but that takes away some streetability as well as costs a lot for a good setup.
