What a Nite!! Stupid SFCs, Now I need to carry 2 jacks!!!

I ran over a bolt tonight. On the way home it flew out of the tire and air started to leak. A minute later, it was flat, right at the exit ramp during rush hour!!
The little notch on the jack where the pinch weld is supposed to fit was blocked by my SubFrameConnectors!!! I had to call my friend to come with his own car jack and I had to use both. His for lifting it up on the SFCs itself, then mine would fit when it is high enough to clear the SFCs.
Stupid design!!! I posted a thread a while back regarding how you would change a spare in the back if you ever needed to when you have the BMR SFCs, but people posted saying it was no problem.
So, then I have the spare on. It was a little flat and my friend was supposed to follow me to the gas station. So, I took off first. Remember, he is at the beginning of the exit ramp on the shoulder. I look in the mirror and he isn't moving. His battery called it quits!!! Sh1t!!!! I tried to reverse, but it was rush hour. I had to drive around and back to the freeway again. But b4 that I went to the station to pump up some air.
When I got back I had to leave my car on the shoulder again. Then we pushed the car up a slight incline and then down the road to Kragen. Dam, it was tiring!!! Then we ran back to my car and drove to jump start his car. What a crappy nite!!!

I'm guessing you have tubular ones? Only boxed ones are good for using as jacking points. I guess I'll keep that in mind if I ever get some. This could suck big time if...wait...I neither have a jack nor spare in my car. I guess it won't matter for me much. I feel your pain though. Many times did my car break down on the highway. It's not pleasant. I got a cell phone now partially due to my car.

i am afraid i have no answer to this problem. i have the slp's boxed sfcs and the standard jack and my floor jack fit fine. however, i dont carry the jack or the spare since i have aaa. i might if i had a long trip but around town aaa is pretty quick.

anyway, you could probably jack the rear by the pumpkin. for the front, you're probably sol. i know my sfc curve in toward the front, possibly you could jack a little forward of the front notch. the notch is sort of safety feature to help keep the jack from sliding (and keep people from trying to jack the car in the middle i suppose)

I have the BMR boxed SFCs. I can fit the jack on the front pinch welds, but in the back there is very little room between the SFC and the pinch weld. When I tried to jack it up, the arm of the jack was lifting the car up on the SFC, not the part of the jack with the notch on it. Only after using my friend's car jack to push it high enough did my own car jack finally fit onto the pinch weld. My friend's car jack has a flat spot(kinda like a sideway L with a notch on it) on it that I used to jack the car up by the SFC. [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]

i suppose you could grind a little off the nose of the jack. 1/8" would probably be safe. dont know much you need. it is probably fine to jack the vehicle under the sfc at the rear (of course, the jack might slip out from under the sfc)
