• v6-v8/y87 steering rack discussion...

    I have only half caught these threads....

    1st what cars have the same as teh v8 steering radius?

    I know Y87 cars had it but I also heard in like 99, 00, or 01, that all v6s started to get it to? Is this true? if so what year?

    Also anyone have a brief description on what is involved in the swap?

    Thank you.

    No it's not true, only the Y87 cars got the same Steering Ratio as the V8's. 16.9:1 Steering Ratio for 93-02 V6's, 14.4:1 ratio for the Y87's and V8's.
    Hope that helps!
    BTW, if you don’t mind go check out the FL section.

      </font>
are you sure? I seriously remember hearing that some newer v6s got it.

        There was never an RPO for just the steering rack, just Y87 for the entire package.

                  My LT1 takes 1 and a half turns to be fully cranked.

                  My v6 took 2 full turns to be fully cranked.
