how do they work? how do i set it? and for sway bars/endlinks/lcas and stuff, what do i need to set it to?? what tension? i really dont know how these things work haha. thanks
There's usually a collar that pushes up and down to unlock it for adjustment. Twist the handle to get the value you want. Make sure to relock the handle! (the cheap Harbor Freight ones have a tendency to wander while tightening unless you tighten the lockscrew pretty well)
When torquing, you want to tighten with a smooth, steady motion. The wrench will click (you'll feel and hear it) when you hit the torque value. Clicking against a stopped bolt doesn't check anything - you need to measure dynamic (sliding) friction, not the static friction force.
Make sure the bolts are prepped in the proper manner - clean and dry usually, unless oiling or something else is specified.
