legal or safe?
first off, the vette has 17's in the front and 18's in the back
second, why would it be illegal????
the only downside to bigger wheels is the weight, which if ur in it for the ¼ mile, then chose some nice 16's
bigger wheels will just give u better handling and better looks....
The rear (or even the front) tires cannot stick out more than 1" from the body of the front or rear fender(s) here in PA.
Also, they must not be too wide to rub inside of the wheelwell when going over bumps. That is HIGHLY un-safe, and will not pass inspection.
Gotta love living in Florida sometimes... none of those inspections or anything is rather nice...\'99 SSM Camaro V6 M5
(mod list on cardomain site; too long to list here)
http://www.cardomain.com/id/v6cam99

Would putting 18's on the back and 17's on the front make it handle much differently? If so how? and is the 32mm sway bar or the 35mm sway bar the best? Just wondering.Cardomain> http://www.cardomain.com/id/7camaro7
CarSponsorships.com> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/sponsor.php?id=2358\">
Webmaster\'s Earn Money Here> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/index.php?ref=2358\">

a bigger rear contact patch(bigger rear tires) that the front will allow the rear to keep traction longer. it will cause more understeer and less oversteer, depending on the suspension setup that ur car has. it will allow for better traction off the line during drag racing as well.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!

What's understeer and oversteer? I bet I already know what the situation is, but I just might not know the most common words for it. Could you explain it?Cardomain> http://www.cardomain.com/id/7camaro7
CarSponsorships.com> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/sponsor.php?id=2358\">
Webmaster\'s Earn Money Here> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/index.php?ref=2358\">

understeer is when your front wheels lose traction and when you turn your steering wheel your car keeps going straight, in an extreme case.. this is more common in front wheel drive cars
oversteer is when the rear wheels lose traction.. also known as "fishtailing" .. taking a turn on a wet road with too much throttle will cause this.. rear wheel drive cars have more of a problem with this
i have had experience with both, .. wrecked my 91 century cause of understeer.. ditched my camaro cause of oversteer... man i need to learn how to drive 2000 Bright Red Camaro 3800 V6, A4, LSD, 3.42
Whisper lid, K&N, American Thunder Catback, Wings West GFX, Billet Grill

http://www.mfba.org
http://home.comcast.net/~thontor/camaro/

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! sorry 2 hear about your wrecks, but I guess you learned the hard way, good way 2 explain it. I learned something new. I've had problems with both with my camaro hahahahaha. When I'm going straight at the right speed on a wet street and I try 2 just turn real fast 2 one side, it understeers. That's with no gas, but when you start into a turn and you put too much gas in2 it it oversteers! Thanks man!Cardomain> http://www.cardomain.com/id/7camaro7
CarSponsorships.com> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/sponsor.php?id=2358\">
Webmaster\'s Earn Money Here> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/index.php?ref=2358\">

17" by 9.5"'s in the front and 18" by 10.5"'s in the back wouldn't make much of a handling difference would it? That's like an inch taller in the back and an inch wider. That would make it slightly better for take off, right? It would slightly give me more understeer. I'm trying to find the lightest weight wheels and the best looking wheels I can find. Anybody know where I can get some lightweight alloys that're inexpensive?Cardomain> http://www.cardomain.com/id/7camaro7
CarSponsorships.com> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/sponsor.php?id=2358\">
Webmaster\'s Earn Money Here> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/index.php?ref=2358\">

look at tirerack.com, search for wheels for the ZO6 or normal corvette, and find the SSR rims. they're 2 piece forged, ultra-lightweight(as in same as stock 16x8's or maybe 1 lb. heavier for 17x9.5 and 18x10.5), and will fit our cars. if they stick in too much, a small wheel spacer will fix that.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!
