Wheel Widening

I've been wanting some wider wheels but I can't find anything in 17" wheels that are 11" wide except the ZR1 wheels or like HRE that cost like $6000 for a set. I found this website:

They offer a wheel widening service that can take a wheel and weld a piece into the middle to widen it. Has anyone heard of this being done before? If so does it still have good structural integrity as a regular wheel or not?

I'm pretty sure the torque thrust II's come in 11"

Yea they do come in 11" but they're a little too bold for me. I was thinkin more like some Firehawk wheels. They don't come in 11" wide though, so I thought this could be an option. I wish there was a place with all the good american wheels online. Then I could actually pick some nice wheels.

There are people on LS1tech that have widen their wheels no problem. I think the average cost was like 200 per wheel.
