Well people, I need a little advice. I was driving down a little two lane road about 25mph and a car in the oncoming lane decided to turn off the road. He edged over the double yellow line a little, then cut back for the turn into the driveway. I had to dodge when he edged over and (being on a narrow roadway) I ended up dropping off the edge. Right as I dropped off, I managed to single out the only pothole in the area. Needless to say, I hit it pretty hard . The passenger side front tire is the only one that went through the hole. It also happens to be where the worst noise I have ever heard in my life originated from. I swear I think something broke. I've hit potholes before, but this one must have been like a foot deep. There was a serious clunk/pop sound over there, that I've never heard going through a pothole before. Well, immediately, I stop to check what I can. No noise in the steering, no noise in the suspension travel, didn't bust a tire or anything, and the car drove fine afterwards. I just don't want to end up losing a tire on the interstate later on or something. My question is, what is the most likely thing I have damaged (if anything at all)? I can't really check until the weekend. I just want to find out ,ahead of time, everything I should check out, and how I should test it all? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

What was said, but make sure you jack it up by the lower control arm, the ball joints need to be unloaded to check them properly. Just use a prybar under the wheel und pry up and down watching for movement in the lower. Then grab the wheel on top and bottom and check for play there, if there is any have someone help watch and determine is it is upper ball joint or hub bearing. Shaking the wheel side to side will tell if the tie rods have play(with the steering column unlocked), if so need someone to watch to determine if it is inner or outer.
