  • Sceeching from rear

After replacing my rear brakes with new Wearever rotors and Hawk Pads, I now get a sceeching when I make left turns.

It sounds like metal on metal but I can't figure out what it is. I notice that my brake pads on the rear are not wearing all the way on the contact patch on the rotor either. I took out my driver rear pads and looked at them and the rotor and can't see any score marks or anything that could be scraping.

    Anybody have any ideas?

Maybe a bent/loose axle. Take a look inside of the caliper mounts (around the rotors), and see if there are any sections that are scraped. If there are fresh brushed metal-to-metal areas on the caliper mounts or rotors, go from there. First, check the caliper mounts to make sure they are nice n' tight.
How long have you had this problem, and what happened just before the noise started??
Maybe you slightly bent a caliper mount, or worse, bend an axle if you slid sideways into a curb or something...

No curbs or anything like that. The rear end has been rebuilt within 15000 miles.

The sound only started when I changed the brakes. I searched a good bit on camaroz28.com and found some good ideas to try. I think it is the caliper rubbing the rotor and I am going to try to space it with a caliper spacer.
