The moderators will probably move this topic to suspension. To answer your question, it depends which springs you get and who you want installing them. Most people use eibachs which are around $240, but I went with sprint which were $170. I had them installed for $100. from one of my boys.

If you have a body kit or plant to get a body kit, only lower it 1-1.5 in. max. you don't want to scrape the ground much. if you don't have a body kit in your car's future, 2-2.5 in. max is fine.

I wouldn't go past 1.5" regardless - Our cars are ALREADY sitting 4.6" off the ground and lowering it too much might not clear speedbumps - especially if you live in my area

Low looks good, wheelgap wise I'm planning on installing the SLP Eibach springs since they only lower the car a friendly 0.75" - just enough to make the wheelgap look *normal* and get rid of the lifted look without affecting everyday driving.

My car is lowered around 1.5-1.75" in the front and near 2.5" in the rear(got subs). Click the dragstrip link in my sig which is a good view of my car lowered.

lowering the car properly will require more than just the springs. you will also need new shocks/struts, adj. phr, and anti-squat brackets (lower control arm relocation brackets). new shocks and struts can run anywhere from 100-500 depending on what you get. obviously the cheap ones won't be good for a lowered car, but you will get by for a little while. the adj phr will vary depending on which brand, but BMR makes very good stuff for probably one of the best prices. those can be 110-150 depending on the poly ends or chrome moly. the relocation brackets are 70-110. weld-in are cheaper and better, but it may be hard to find a welder who will do it and know what hes doing. i have the bolt-in ones which have been fine for me. so in all your looking aprox 230 for springs, 300 for good shocks/struts, 110 for adj phr and 110 for relocation brackets. of course that is all before installation costs if you don't know how to do it yourself and that is a whole another story. =)

what predator said is true to a point, i have a set of MAC lowering springs on my '99 firebird, it dropped it about 1.5" overall both front and back, and it works just fine with the struts/shocks that are on it. unless you plan on racing on a very bumpy surface where the shock cant rebount in time before it binds down it really isnt that important, especially if its a daily driver like mine that only goes to the drag strip on weekends

when doing shocks/struts, look at middle of the road adj. ones. they will give you a choice on how many and how much of bumps you'll feel. for lca's and phr, get both adjustable. it will be easier that way instead of getting relocation brackets for the lca's and the adj. phr will allow you to put on wider tires in the future.
