I am looking at getting 17x9.5 wheels. I was considering 18x9s but I think 17s are a better all around combo. What size tires should I get? On discount tire.com its giving me the choice of 275 or 245, I think. My car is lowered 1.5" and the tires are going to be Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s.
Thanks
275's for the increased road holding ability. They also give you better traction off the line. they fill the wheelwells better, i think and fit better on the rims too.
275's are pretty wide but look great. From my experience, 255's are a good sized tire for our V6 on a 17x9" rim. I have 17x9.5" TT II's and while they look great, I wish my wheel size was a little narrower so I could run a 245 w/o stretching the sidewall way in. right now I have 245/45's up front and 275/40's in the back.
1994 Camaro 3.4L M5 R.I.P.
You know what they say- a small engine means big... errr... e/t\'s
www.pbase.com/rrj72/the_accident
replaced with: red 97 A4 vert (my brothers as soon as i find my REAL replacement)
soon to come: 1969 RS/SS
\"All you need are the esentials: scented candles, massage oil, and Berry White write that down.\" -Van Wilder
275/40's don't rub.... thats what comes stock on SS's and WS6's. you can fit up to a 285 in the front, and some people can fit 315's in the back on 11" wide rims....but that requires some modifications to the wheel well...
Anyone know of where I could get a set of 17's from the SS for my 3.8? Want to stick w/ chevy wheels if possible, but don't want to pay the arm/leg that a Chevy dealer would charge.
Do a post on the other board for matt steagal in the for sale section, he was going to sell my ss rims for 600 shipped. I just deleted his email, otherwise I would have forwarded it to you. Lots of people sell them on ebay, that messageboard, and slp sells them to. Try ls1.com to.
Thanks for the replys guys.
We sell the SLP SS rims if you are interested. I will also be getting some SS Replica Rims as well. I can let you know the price later on of the cost. The SLP ones are 17x9 and the Replicas are 17x9.5.
SLP 10 spokes are $589
SLP 5 spokes are $689
I can let you know the price later on of the Replicas.

hahaha, NO! no clasical music here! ARG! anyway, if you want to stick w/ gm, get ZO6 rims. :D 17x9.5 in front, 18x10.5 rear. Just make sure you have jounce spacers on each wheel so nothing rubs. put 275-40-ZR17's in front and 295-45-ZR18's in the rear. I suggest Nitto 555 series tires. check nittotire.com.
