  • Just installed Lakewood LCA's

Decent product, well made, good bushings, Decent machining on the metal parts. Only downside is the grease valves they give you. they are tap in, and not thread, and they dont tap in easily. i added threaded ones instead, and they still didnt work perfect.

but the good news is that all wheelhop is gone, and the back end feels more stable when taking turns at higher speeds. Not a huge difference, but noticable. the wheel hop is the big thing.

oh, and last night i realized that the car will hit posi and go all over the place when taking corners. both ways, left and right corners.

that right there was worth the money i paid for them.

i had to return mine because they would fit on my car. It said they would in the Jegs catalog, then i look at the instructions and it said "fits 82-92 firebirds and camaros" Of course i saw this after i tried to install them and got pissed off. So I got the SLP ones, they worked great and still do!

mind said that too, but they still fit fine.

jason, did you have problems with the tapping in of the grease fittings they provided?

i got thread in ones, but they unthread easily, and i can only get about 5 pumps in before the thread in fittings pop out, and the tap ones provided by lakewood were too difficult to get in for me.

how did you solve this problem?

FYI: LCA's are the same from 82-02.

Nope.... it just took a little convincing with a block of wood and a big *** hammer! :D I haven't had any problems with them popping out.

Install time was about 2 hours including raising the rear end of the car.

Good luck, Ian. Try tapping in the one's that came with the LCA's.

yea, i think im gonna have to.

the only problem i may have is the friggin bushings. when i had the LCA's off of the car and put the fittings in first, the bushings werent installed. then, when i looked when the bushings were in and the things were installed in the car, i noticed that the edges of the bushings overlapped the hole for the grease fitting some.

i dont know if the fitting will go in all the way since they are on the car, or if it will hit the bushing and stop.
