  • best wheels for the 1/4 mile???

i have a 1996 camaro and when I bought it it had black rims with hub caps. I still have them and want to get some nice wheels to replace them. but when i took the tire off to do my brakes they were really light. compared to my wifes firebird withe the same size wheels. are they really lighter? do you think i should use them to race? maybe they will make me quicker. thanks.

You know, for the money, stock 16" wheels are about as good as it gets.

If you want better, you need Weld draglites or some other kind of specialty drag wheel.

what are the stok 16" wheel? the all black with hub caps like mine or the better looking silver ones I see on all other V6 camaros? also do you know what that silver painted one is called? I really like that and I see It on alot of other V6 camaros. thanks.

        We nickname them Salad shooters...

I swticed form hubcaps to rims, and I didn't really notice a difference, though the normal rims are 16X8 and I think the steel ones were 16X7.

For drag racing most people use 16x8s or 15 in. drag wheels.

            One word. Bogarts!

            http://www.mycamaroz28.homestead.com/

These are probably the lightest and strongest wheel you can get. And yes, when you get rid of 10lbs per wheel you may see a slight increase in you time.

            Best of luck!

2000+ stock silver aluminum firebird/camaro wheels are approx 17-18lbs each.

For wheel weights, check my database on my website :D

LOL yeah they are not cheap, but compared to similar wheels in that weight range they are the least expensive. I thought you hardcore guys and gals might like those. LOL :D

And yes, for the regular street wheel Dominic is right the 16x8 strait spoke silver 5 star factories are the lightest. Many after market wheels in this size range from 23-28lbs.
