How often do we need to pack our bearings. I recall that when I was replacing my rotors and brakepads I noticed my bearings didn't sound too great. My car has about 71,500mi on it. Would they need repacking every 50,000mi or so? Also what kind of grease should I use or is recommended? Thank You

Our cars use the newer "permanent sealed" bearings and cannot be "repacked".
If they make noise, get new ones pressed on - otherwise they are fine.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

Yes theyre pricey, I forgot how much but I somewhat recall hearing $50-200 or somewhere along those lines. It takes a *special* machine to pack them - ugh.
Anyways, if theyre making noise, better get them replaced! Usually they last 100K miles, but if you drive pitted roads or something they might be getting worn a little early.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

They're also expensive because the incorporate the ABS sensors in them as well and the whole hub comes as a unit.Wayne<br />94 5 spd Camaro<br />Turbo/Intercooled<br /> <a href=\"http://www.geocities.com/Mustang732/cars.htm\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.geocities.com/Mustang732/cars.htm</a> <br /><br />Megasquirt Stand-alone EFI controling fuel/spark w/ wideband:<br /> <a href=\"http://home.att.net/~basic-4/2ndMegasquirt/NewMegasquirt.html\" target=\"_blank\">http://home.att.net/~basic-4/2ndMegasquirt/NewMegasquirt.html</a>

He he... those days are long gone. I'm waiting for cars that require some special tire inflating tool that only dealerships can get. It's not far off, I'm afraid.
