  • Do stock SS springs sit lower then stock V6 springs?

Hello, does anyone know if 1993-02 SS Springs sits lower then 1993-02 V6 Springs? I want to put my stock springs on my 2001 V6. But I remember it looking really really high. But when looking at stock ss camaro's, it looks like the car sits lower then ours. So is there a difference in ride height with the ss springs and v6 springs?

I THINK SS springs are the same as Z28. I will be putting Brand new Z28 front springs and struts on my 1997 v6 this weekend. I will also be putting air shocks on the rear. Im hope all this will raise my car between 1 and 2 inches.

Someone just replied back to one of my post on norcal-ls1.com. And that person said that ss camaro's do sit a little lower then v6/z28 camaros. They came out with stage1 and stage2. I guess the only way to find out is to buy some ss springs.

Wouldnt the car actually sit higher in the front, assuming the LS1 weighs more then the 3.8?

My assumption would be that the car is going to sit higher. The SS springs are designed for the weight of the V8 (although the LS1 doesn't weigh much more, it still makes a difference).

Indeed, would be similar to putting big block Chevy springs on a small block Chevy.

Level 1 and Level 2 SLP springs are lowering springs made by Eibach. Even though a V8 has a little more weight than a V6 the front is still going to drop with SLP springs, just not as much.

Putting z28 springs on the front with new struts. Im hoping for an inch or inch and a half. Putting Air shocks on the rear to level every thing out. Rear stock springs are pretty weak.

it depends on the year and the options, my one roomates 99 ss has the higher performance suspension (Much stiffer springs and revalved shocks) that was offered and it actually sits a 1/4" higher than my car. My other roomates 02 35th ss sits about the same as mine and his has the same suspension as the Z28.

Whats the actual specs on these motors? The LS1 is aluminum and the L36 is cast Iron. I Bet there isnt much a differance. I know that the V8 models weigh about 200 lbs less than the V6 models.

i put eibachs on mine and dont have a problem with bottoming out... well, any more than i did stock. the thing is just to drive up curbs at an angle and slow. simple as pie and i hardly ever bottom out

                            Z28 springs will raise a v6 car 1.5 inchs.

I think you are talking about lt1 z28 springs because if i remember right our engine weighs almost as much a an ls1 but i could be wrong here.
