  • 3.4 rear disk brake conversion

I know some of you with 3.4s have done this and I have been thinking about doing it. If I could find a z28 rearend from a junkyard for cheap how hard would it be to fit it to my car. I think I would need to fittings on the brake lines to go to the disk brakes, but not sure. Also would I need to go ahead and get the z28 driveshaft to make it easier. Or is it just easier to get a conversion kit. Any info would be appreciated.

I personally think a brake conversion kit is better. their is very little difference between the various camaro/firebird rearends. Mainly just the different type of brake setups. If you want a stronger rearend then go buy a moser 12 bolt or currie 9 bolt rearend. If you just want better brakes then get the drum to disk conversion or upgrade the front disks to bigger rotors/better calipers. Some of the companies inlcude Baer or wilwood. Their are others but they are more expensive. I suggest just doing the conversion if all you want is better brakes/stopping power.

I ordered a rear disc brake conversion kit from speedautomotive.com. After ordering and paying I was told it would be shipped that day and arrive no later than friday. Of course it was not here on friday so I gave them a couple of extra days to be sure they had time to send it. I still had not recieved it by the following thursday so I gave them a call. They had not even removed the brakes from the parts car yet! But I was told that they were going to send it that day and should have it no later than the following friday. Told them nevermind just cancel. So I would not recommed picking up one of their rear brake kits.
