• LS1 brakes on a LT1...

i just finished the brakes, but had a couple of problems:

    1. i can't seem to get the rubber brake line to fit into the plate where the hard line and rubber line connect to each other.

    2. on the passenger side, the pad isn't fully hitting the disc, is there any way to fix that besides just letting the pad wear down?

    thanks

    1. This is common, the hard line must be moved slightly.

    2. Something is not installed right. Don't let the pad "just wear down".

When i did my swap i said screw it with trying to get that stupid brake line to fit so i just used the old ones and put the new bolt from the line into the caliper and bent the tabs down on the frame. Has worked fine for me.

Now as far as the pad not touching the rotor. Something sounds like it is not installed right. Got any pictures? That would be the easiest way to tell. I can't remember if they are the same for each side but you could have put the brakets that the caliper mount too on upside down maybe?

it's those stupid tabs that i can't get the soft line into, also, when you bent it did you take it off and bend it in a certian place, becuase is seems if you bend it you will mess up the hole the lines go into.

also, what do you mean 'i just used the old ones'

The old ones are my old brake lines. If you got new lines they should have come with a bolt that attaches it to the caliper. I used this "new" bolt on the old line.

As for the tabs. I just bent them down on the car. The metal line should bend out with them so nothing broke. I would bend them with the lines inplace and on the car. You shouldn't have to bend them very far either.
