how long should the stock tires last? i have 45000 miles on my car and the stockies are looking pretty scary. i have 2 kumho ecstas on the rear with about 36000 miles and they look ok.

what is a good tire life when it comes to miles. can i make these tires last 100,000 miles just like my oil and spark plugs? j/k :D

Every tire is different. They have a rating called "treadwear". Most tires rate about 420 or so. The higher the better. I've seen ratings as high as 700. They had 80,000 miles warrenty!! But that is kinda one of a kind. Most tires should be changed around the 45,000 mile mark.

Hey man, I used to work at a tire shop, and I've seen people wear their tires down the the metal... Jesus... I'd buy new ones, because the thinner they are, the more likely they'll bust/pop/ explodelike a barrel of gas and ignite your car into a flaming torch...

lol maybe not that far, but becareful!

high performance salvage has tires. how do you do the penny test to check how good the tires are? he has 2 dunlop that look decent he wants $120 for. i am going to try and talk him down to 100 for both cause i just spent a lot of money at his place, so i might get lucky. but how high should the tread be?
