New question.. just fishing for some insight.
On an earlier topic I described an accident I had
in which I slammed into a curb and broke my wheel.I thought by replacing my wheel that would be it. Changed wheel.. heard metal scraping sound.. a genius at a brake shop said i needed rotors and pads .. during installation he had to bend my dust shield back.. still same sound.. i assumed i needed a new brake dust shield.. supposedly you have to pull rear end out to change dust shield on 2001 camros's..you can see where some metal gave way a little causing my rear wheel to sit in further into the wheelwell...
the other side the wheel and tire sticks out a little.. after all that my question is this.. are the pieces that hold the brake calipers etc and the rear end bolt in pieces or do i need a new rear end . i am not sure what they call where the brake calipers etc are installed.. any help is appreciated.. this thing has been driving me crazy

Sounds like the lower control arms or panhard rod (suspension pieces) may have gotten bent in the accident, causing the entire rear of the car to be shifted to one side. If you hit hard enough to crack the wheel there's a good chance something got bent. It may even involve something more serious like a bent axle, broken wheel bearing, etc. in addition to the bent suspension pieces. I would not have a brake tech try to determine the problem. It should be looked at by a body shop.

i dont hear a metal scraping sound.. but heres what mine does... when i brake i get a puslating feeling on my foot from the brakes. like they are slowly resisting. also, i can hear something spinning in the back when its really quiet, but i cant tell if its just the tire spinning on the road or something else. do you have either of thoes?

That's kinda expensive for an axle shaft. Or did that include installation?

I've got 2 laying in my garage from my old rear end if you need one. You don't have traction control do you?
