• Why you should check on your brakes and rotors...(pics)

These are older pics, but jsut found the XP driver for my ghetto cam.

these pads were 6 months old, and the rotors wer abotu a year old. I never really thought my brakes would go out so quickly but I am rough on cars.

    1st pic.

THe outer edge of the rotor is gouged, its obvious which is new and old, the picutes do not show it but there were hudreds of tiny little cracks in the metal, like when you bend up a piece of metal.

    2nd pics

this is a comparison of old Midas replacements vs. hawk performance friction.

yeah, it was metal on metal contact.

    3rd group of pics...

Pads and rotors installed on all 4 corners, and painted Calipers(Shiney red calipers make car stop faster )

Cars been stopping REEEEAAAL goood since that.

So, you are happy with Hawk pads?
I've always had stock ones on the bird.
I wouldn't mind a bit more slow down power.

        Nics pics!

they make a HUGE diffence over OEM... actually they made mroe a difference then when I converted to 4 wheel discs.

The only down fall is you need to stops before they start working, it gets some gettign used to.

Liek when I leave my apartmetn complex, first stop especially on cold days feels a little spongey, but after that they are great.

They do dust, but maybe not near what my old ones would do. I mena I haven't wahed the car in a month, and the wheels are less dirty with midas type pads after 3 days.

What brand rotors are those? OEM replacements?

I've never done brakes before. When it comes time to do my brakes, I want to do them myself to see how it goes. I will consider using the hawk pads.

Thanks for the info and pics

Ouch, those rotors don't look too good. That reminds me, when you (anyone) jack up the car and spin the tire and wheel, can you hear the pads brushing the rotor? My dad swears it's normal but I really don't like the idea of it brushing the whole time I'm driving.
