  • Bad Vibration around 60-75 mph??????

I have like a bad vibration throughout the car when I get up to around 60-75 mph. It started a little while after I got new tires in the rear. I have Bridgestone PotenzaRE910's in the rear and whatever tires came with the car up front. The front tires looked new when I got the car that's why I didn't get new ones up front. Anyways, after i'd say a few hundred miles after the new rear tires, I've noticed this vibration. I can put my hand on the steering wheel and just watch it shake like crazy. I only feel the vibration effect between these speeds. Could it be because I have two different makes of tires? Or maybe I just need to get the front tires balanced??? I did a front end alignment when i got the rear tires, but didn't balance them. Anyone???????????

What you are describing is the classic symptom for wheel balance being off. It will start up around 55-60, and drop off after a point. (if you go far enough up, it will start again...)

If the steering wheel moves back and forth by itself, it's the fronts (not to say the backs are balanced, but you know definitely the fronts need work).

If it didn't start at exactly the same time you got the tires, then you probably threw a weight off one of the wheels going down the road.

So I guess I should get the front wheels balanced and see if it still does it? I also notice everyonce in awhile when I hit the brakes the car will jerk to the right, what could that be? It's like a bad jerk too, like someone just grabbed the wheel and yanked it to the right!

He's right, its definately the balancing. The brake problem happens to me too, I think thats just how all brakes are, every car i have ridden in does it if you hit them hard enough. I think it has soemthing to do with the pads.
