went to a shop... just found out i bent the axle... said he had a spare one from another firebird for 100$ or so.. is that a good price? ~
~also if i have a 00, what year will the axle need to be from. can it be from an older car?

~i looked on gmpartsdirect and they had one axle with traction control and one without it...could i get an axle without the tcs? dont know if hes that stupid but you never know.. plus the one with tcs was 190$.. im getting mine for 100.. seems too cheap...

I plan on buying a PAIR of Moser race hardened axle shafts for <$300.

problem is my mom is the one who called him up and said to install it, she doesnt know anything. how much would it of costed to put 3.23 gears instead of the 3.08? I am hoping he knows to use a tcs axle... is there any way i can inspect it to know if it is? is there any visual difference between an tcs and regular axle?

no difference what so ever for parts and install. Youd just have to get your speedometer recalibrated. why would you even bother going to 3.23's and not 3.42's or 3.73's?

You didnt pay to get new 3.08's re-installed in your car, did you?

If your asking what it would have cost to go to different gears while he changed your bent axle, then it would have been about $500 for parts and labor (thats just gears, no posi)

There really isnt any way to 'inspect' the axle once its installed without pulling it back out, I dont think. Guess just see if you TCS still works.

So how did you bend it in the first place?

well... hahaaa. i had a few other posts but i feel like typing it again.
I had my tcs off (this is why it is so important that it works from now on..) and i was making a fast left turn from a red light... i started fishtailing into the left lane and when i turned teh wheel back right, the car did a 180.. and the back left wheel slammed directly parallel into the curb.. ruined the tire and rim... that was about 200 (the tire was free since i had just bought it a week ago, when i had a unrepairable nail in my tire) then i knew something else was wrong with it, i told the guy installing my fuel pump to check out the rear end and he said the axle was bent... when my mom was driving behind me to the auto place she said the back wheel was wobbling like it was about to fall off... so he wasnt lying like they usually do to get you buy new parts that arent damaged... anyway.. to repair & install the fuel tank sensor and the axle came to around 500... which totals to about 850 (+wheel+rim) that I have spent on the car in the last month... damnnn
