Fix-a-Flat

I was looking at a can of this stuff the other day in the store, when I saw the can bore a warning, "Do not use with Z-rated tires."

Just curious, does anybody know why?

I'm guessing it has something to do with Fix-a-Flat not being intended for use at very high speeds.

That's my guess too. I also believe that it really isn't supposed to be a permanent fix to a flat tire, just enough to get you through a few days to get the flat patched by a professional. Not totally sure though...

That and it may also create an imbalance or something. But I don't think I'd be going 150+ in tires with fix-a-flat in em anyway [img]smile.gif[/img]

Fix a flat sucks my balls, I will tell you why:

1) Likes to eat chrome off of the inside of chrome wheels.
2)Likes to eat paint off of the inside of painted wheels.
3)Likes to grow on and corrode steel wheels.
4)Grows into some nasty crap on your wheel and tire.
5)Rarely does more than just put air in a tire, RARELY fixes anything.
6)Creates a HUGE imbalance in the tire.
7)If it screws with steel wheels, guess what it does to steel belts?
8)Tire shops will hate your guts when they have to clean it out of your tire, it burns your skin if you don't wash it off quickly.
9)Sometimes it will seal a leak just long enough so a tire shop can't find anything in your tire, then the seal will break on your way home from the tire shop.

I could go on forever...

my roomates both work in tire centers and ***** about that **** constantly. mostly because it's old people who think it's good stuff, and leave it in there.

also, most people don't even use it properly, which is EXTREMELY dangerous. especially since they leave the crap in there for a few thousand miles. after you fill the tire with the gunk, you're supposed to drive around at slow speeds to coat the inside well. then you're supposed to stop and air out the tire completly to expell the combustible gas that is inside. then refill the tire with air to the correct pressure.

i've never had to deal with the stuff, yet. i'm really not looking forward to when i have a car come in w/ that ****.

Balance is the main thing, same with slime. or for that matter anything other than air in you tires.

I'm thinking they don't want u using it cuz it won't seal at all. Even when I get my tires patched it still leaks for a couple of days before it finally seals.

Unless it's a case of extreme emergency, Fix a Flat is good for one thing only: Pissing off people you don't like.

Buy 4 cans of the stuff, and wait till this person you don't like parks their car for an extended period of time (like in the morning, when school starts). Let a little air out of each tire, then fill it with Fix a Flat. Watch the person later when they try to drive their cars with the fix a flat hardened on one side of the tire, throwing all 4 tires WAY out of balance.
