• Did a STB help you?

I'm considering buying a strut tower brace with money I got for Christmas from my grandparents. The thing is I've read some posts that say the STB didn't help and some that say they did. I want to do a poll to find out what the verdict is. I've put in an option to say if you don't have a stb (incase you're like me and want to be able to see the results).

Feel free to comment.

Thanks, Rob

I installed it at the same time as other suspension mods, so I do not know how much it helped me

I noticed a little bit of difference when I put it on(only suspension mod at the time). It turned the corners a little bit tighter(front end anyways), but nothing groundbreaking. Also, I have a vert, so it was probably more noticeable than if you had t-tops or a hard top.

If you can get it cheap, it may be worth it...mine was a used one at $80(shipping included) and was already painted white to match my engine bay...so I thought it was worthwhile.
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?

I got my SLP for 50 bucks, thats why i bought mine. I thought it might of helped a little, but I already had SLP Level 1 suspension kit on there.

yeah on a vert, it may acctualy make a non placeebo difference..

when i got mine it was one of my first mods to the camaro.. it was disapointing..

i ended up taking it off and leaving it off after my superchager install because i got sick of it getting in the way..

you wont feel a thing, but it will technically make a difference. just not much of one.

I thought it made a difference on mine. My car felt really solid when I corner, it doesn't flex as much.

Thanks for the comments. After reading this, I've decided that (since I don't have a 'vert), I can't justify spending the money on one. Looks like I'll just put that money towards gears and a LSD.

When I would switch from a "street" set up to drag racing set up I swapped a lot of parts.... sometimes all parts... sometimes portions...

Street set up:
275 40 tires
17 X 9 wheel
Hotchkis STB

Drag set up:
Skinnies
Drag radials
Ditch STB
Ditch front sway bar

I noticed a CONSIDERABLE difference between with and without the STB.

I used to push my bird as hard as possible around turns and the STB was DEFINATELY noticable.

I think it is worth it... if you push the car hard through the turns.

James I didn't know you car could turn?!?!?

Its mainly for looks, very little help with front end stability.

That seems like a better way to spend the money. You'll definitely notice more of push when you hit the gas once you get those installed.

haha..i think it may help but just on a level that you dont really notice (therefor whats the point) ..if you really want some cornering power get a set of sway bars and fat tires..i have the Spohn sway bar set from fasttoys.net and 245 wide tires and my cornering RULES..you could also look into sub frame connectors (i also have a STB, LCAs, and a pan hard rod)..could adjust the camber too but i dont like to play with that

I think you should allocate the moola to Sub-Frame Connectors, especially since you got T-tops. It will help keep the rattles at bay and it has a bigger difference than an STB.

I got the SFCs first, then I got the STB. Both made a differece. The SFCs I noticed right away when I entered the on-ramp loop to the freeway. It got rid of the tire rub on the frt lt wheel well whenever I go 35-40mph on the circular on-ramp.

The STB you can feel the diff when you are yanking left and right, it also got rid of this annoying squeak from the HVAC area.
