Help! Stereo too heavy! Car bottoming out!

I got too much junk in my trunk. :D Anyway, my subs/box/amps are too heavy and weighing the car down. Everytime I hit a bump in the road, the car slams down hard. Kinda feels like the shocks are fully contracted and are being slammed fully together. I replaced the shocks. No change. I added 1/2" spacers in the springs and it helped a lot with my old system....but my new stereo is even heavier and now it's doing it with the spacers in! The shop also sells 1" spacers but I could barely squeeze the 1/2" ones in my springs. There's no way in hell 1" would fit. I'm not getting rid of the gear so please don't recommend that. My box is already half fiberglass/half lightweight wood, and I've removed as much excess weight in the car as I can. Pretty much alls I have behind the driver's seat is subs, box and amps. Still too heavy. ... what other suspension options do I have? I have been told springs are the best solution. My car is a V6, someone told me the V8 springs are stiffer....any truth to this? They may be just what I need. Or does anyone sell kits to RAISE the ride height? And, of course, I don't wanna spend any more money then I have to. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Did you ever check to see if your jounce bumpers are still intact? Mine got dryrotted and one side fell off. Everytime I hit a pebble on the road it would sound like the rear suspension was coming through the bottom of the car. Put spacers behind the jounce bumpers and replaced them too, problem solved.

air shocks! work wonders. they are like $30 a piece, and you install them, and run an air line from each shock to this bike tire air fitting looking thing. you put air in, the car raises, take air out, car lowers. work great. You get like 2 to 2.5" of adjustibility with them. And if that doesnt fix it, i dont know WHAT will(but i would bet it will fix it).
