  • Possible problem??

    Here's the problem....

Anytime I "get on it" from a stop, and the tires start to break traction, the rear end seems to hop around and the shifter bounces up and down like crazy. There's a terrible banging sound from the rear as well. The car has 97K on it so I'm sure things are wearing out, but geesh.....that's gotta be the most terrible sound ever. I can only imagine how it looks from outside the car :(

Any advise on what it could be? Tranny mount, panhard rod, LSD, engine mounts, torsion bar?...I dunno

    Thanks

I had that same problem. I thought it was the tranny mount at first, but then after gettin it up in the air we noticed that the motor wasn't even bolted into the mounts. After getting the motor back on the mounts i replaced the trans mount with a polyurethane mount and that stopped the rest of the shifter movement. I still have a banging noise coming from the back right corner which im thinking is the spring and im about to replace that.

That doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling......

as for the banging noise...you're suspecting that it's the spring coming out of place?

Check your tranny mount. I just changed my oil and realized one bolt was missing and the other was 1/2 the way loose.

Check your engine and tranny mounts, then get to work modding that rear suspension.
