Any one want to buy lighter stronger parts?
I'm not trying to sell any thing just want to know what people are thinking.
I have come to like grade 5 and 9 Ti it is good stuff.
Lower grade CP or grade 2 looks like it is only good when used in short sections and for compressive loads only(rear LCA's).
How about 2-2.5lb wonder bar, torque arm that weighs about 4-5lb, rear LCA's at about 2lb each, a tower to tower STB that weighs about 2.5 - 3lb and track bars.
Bare Ti or Powder coated?
Some how most retail after market steel parts cost about what the raw stock would cost me. Like a $60 wonder bar = about 60 some dollars woth of stock. Rear LCA's about $100 (on ebay)= about $100 woth of Ti depending on for the middle section if I use grade 9 tube or cheaper CP tube. Torque arms, same thing. STB's are a dime a dozen and don't count.
I was thinking about geting a powder coating system be cause I know how much the ricers love this stuff and NO one in nothern japan does it to small parts and for cheap.\'85 Z28, T-tops new LG4 and TH700
\'85 3.4L 5-speed
mods: http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4 the nitrous exhaust O2 safety, pg 3.
Areo space materal engineer wantabe

i'd be down for this. i really want to lighten my front end more than anything though so a arms and a k member would get more interest from me along with the stb and and some sfc (i have a vert though so i doubt anyone would ever make those for me). i could care less about powder coating since Ti doesnt rust. Good luck with the powder coater though, sounds like you could make some money with it.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

SFC's now there is some thing i have not realy thought about.
Mainly becasue Titanium will not weld to any thing but it's self.
May be a mid section of Ti bolted to steel ends.
The biggest problem with frount a arms is place for the ball joint. I don't have a way to make that.
I did not think about making a K member out of Ti because I do have one coming over here, to mod for the V6. I wanted to see one first before I put any more thought into it.
STB should be easy depending on what kind it is.\'85 Z28, T-tops new LG4 and TH700
\'85 3.4L 5-speed
mods: http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4 the nitrous exhaust O2 safety, pg 3.
Areo space materal engineer wantabe

hmm, i can deffinately see your reason about the a arms after looking at them a littler more. upper a arms shouldnt be a problem though and that could take a few more pounds out. how well does TI resist twisting force? thats the only thing i can think of that would be bad about ti subframes (i have yet to get to materials in college so i know very little about these kinds of things). The strut bar would be simple from what im looking at. the k-member would take a ton of weight out if it is possible to use TI for it and i cant see any problem with doing it with it. hope you can find a way to do this cause i really want this now. do you have a link to where you are getting this stuff from on ebay or other places cause i might try to weld this up my self if i can get a hold of the material and some TI welding wire. good luck.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

The welding wire is $150 a pound. On ebay I take what I can use.\'85 Z28, T-tops new LG4 and TH700
\'85 3.4L 5-speed
mods: http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4 the nitrous exhaust O2 safety, pg 3.
Areo space materal engineer wantabe

The first thing I crank out will be a wonder bar. Then a prtotype torque arm.\'85 Z28, T-tops new LG4 and TH700
\'85 3.4L 5-speed
mods: http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4 the nitrous exhaust O2 safety, pg 3.
Areo space materal engineer wantabe
